butter knife turned screwdriver

I started as a butter knife, but there were things that needed to be taken apart, so I applied myself as a screwdriver,
and a pry bar, and I got the broken whatsit open.
And I can still play butter knife - 'till something else needs repair.
Oh, and I can usually get most of those screws back in the right place too.
And sometimes the whatsit gets fixed.
In any case, it's better than just being smeared with butter all day.

Victorinox at it's best...

I've never been able to classify myself as any one thing. Shuffling between IT, creative writing, management and back seems to be more a dichotomy than can be classified simply "fork, knife or spoon"...

...or perhaps not. Stretching the paradigm slightly - perhaps I could identify with a Knife. Specifically this Victorinox Swiss Army knife. It still has it's fundamental "knife-ness", but is extremely versatile and flexible to accomplish lots of… Continue

Serving spoon or steak knife?

I aspire to be a serving spoon. A serving spoon can be used to serve, as its name would suggest, but it can also be used for other purposes if needed. In other words, while it does have a special purpose, it is adaptable to many other needs. It has the potential to be the most well rounded (pardon the pun) of all the utensils. If I were stranded on a desert island and I could have only one utensil, I would want a serving spoon. Its bowl is large so it can hold lots of water or food, but it… Continue

Wooden Spoon

It's a good mixer. It's tough but if it's used long enough and hard enough, it breaks.

I'm a dinner fork

I'm a dinner fork. For me, until my last breath, life is simple a streaming buffet table of experiences and sensations and emotions and adventures and knowledge. I eclectically endeavor to try and dabble and tast and listen and see and feel and...LIVE. I'm a fork piling my plate to overflow with every single unique sentient hors d'oeurve that ensures a life fully engaged and enriched.

plain ole tea spoon

I like the image of the teaspoon for myself. its ordinary, everyday, one of those utensils you grab for lots of uses that have nothing to do with tea--actually I'm not sure what its really supposed to be used for.
Spoons exist in potential, as empty spaces. They take in substance gently and in a kind of fellowship.

From serving spoon to eating dessert first spoon

I used to be a serving spoon, helping out, always the little mother in my black patent leather party shoes taking care of my younger sibs. Now, I'm dishing out heaping scoops of chocolate chip ice cream or dipping into warm chocolate pudding, living in the moment. It's a balancing act, helping out yet, also savoring a dollop of fresh creme brulee on my own tongue. I'm loving every spoonful, whatever life dishes out.

I am chopsticks...

I am chopsticks...there are two of me.

something to do with my sun signs, I think...

always two sides to everything...

one side does not function well without the other.

you really need to pay attention or you will go hungry...

I am process oriented. is there a pun in there?

I don't do anything quickly...I enjoy my time in the process...

I feel no need to rush through my meal...

through the process...through my life.

it is work for me to use… Continue

The Spork

From Wikipedia - A spork is a hybrid form of cutlery taking the form of a spoon-like shallow scoop with the addition of the tines of a fork (usually three or four). Spork-like utensils have been manufactured since at least the late 1800s; patents for spork-like designs date back to at least 1874 and the word "spork" was registered as a trademark both in the U.S. and the UK decades later. Sporks are offered in both re-usable and disposable form and are quite versatile. They are commonly used by… Continue

pasta server vs. olive fork

most of the time i am a pasta server (big heaping servings dumped unceremoniously in the bowl), though occasionally i am an olive fork (exceedingly precise & sharp). they balance out.

Soup Ladle

I love to make big pots of soup with whatever is at hand, no recipe, never the same soup twice. I like bringing people together and letting their ideas mix into some new soup as well. Ladle up that soup!
