Well here I am in Los Angeles for the past 15 years and I'm just getting used to it. It's hard to shake the lower east side and truth is I would never try to. It's in my DNA just like the years I spent in and around New Paltz, Eastern Long Island and the upper west side for that matter. My first impulse was to side-step the entire list and choose my own utensil -- an oyster shell, or the piece of coconut hide slashed from the coconut itself with a machete to use to scoop out the meat. Or fingers dipped in a tin bowl of rice. But were any of those "me"?

I capture and hold on to only the most important pieces of the meal letting everything else past without a second thought. I can sometimes be intricate and others plain but I always serve my purpose.
